French photographer and visual artist Rafaelle Lorgeril has been building her practice since the age of twelve, turning professional at twenty-two and establishing herself over more than two decades as a distinctive voice in portrait, self-portrait, fashion, and landscape photography

Rafaelle Lorgeril approaches photography as a space where reality becomes malleable. She works extensively with blur, texture, and colour grading to shift the viewer's perception, drawing them into what she describes as a sensitive in-between, a place that exists somewhere between the real and the imagined. Her portraits and self-portraits are less about likeness and more about feeling, capturing emotional states that resist straightforward description. Landscapes, too, become carriers of mood and memory within her practice. Since beginning her collaboration with Nikon in 2022, she has worked with the Nikon Z6II and the Nikon Z8, two cameras from the Nikon Z series that support the technical precision her creative process demands. Among her lenses, it is the Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/4 S that she reaches for most consistently, valued for its versatility across a wide range of shooting conditions, from expansive environmental framing to close, intimate portraiture, and equally at home when she moves into video work. For Rafaelle, reliable equipment is not a luxury but a necessity when the image being chased is as elusive as an emotion.
